2020

How it all began

The very first picnic took place in 2020 at Bednarskiego Park — small, local, but full of warmth and smiles. It started with two Belarusians, Yana and Katya, driven by pure enthusiasm and a neighborly spirit.

The idea came suddenly, born out of a lack of a Belarusian community and local friends. We spread out throw blankets, shared food, and got to know each other just in-between those blankets. Back then, the park didn’t even have a kids’ playground, so we came up with our own games for the little ones. That picnic was the very moment we realized something important: this event is so special because of the people who made it—selflessly, sincerely, and for everyone.

Moving to the Mound

By 2021, our community had grown, and we decided to change the location to the Krakus Mound with its gorgeous view over Kraków. We danced, sang, made new friends, enjoyed the moment, and watched the sunset together. For the first time, we set up a stage for live music, hosted workshops, organized a clothes swap, and ran all kinds of activities for the community. There were way more logistics to manage, but even more joy to go around.

Growing bigger

In 2022, we met in Jordana Park—a bigger green space that welcomed nearly 2,000 of us. Everyone came with friends, families, kids, and pets to soak up the bright and fun. We listened to live sets from Shuma and Dlina Volny, and for the first time ever, the picnic featured a bustling market and food court.

In just two years, the Picnic had grown and earned a special place in people’s hearts. We stayed true to our values: do with care, make things free, and keep going—even when tired, because we all need a genuine celebration in the middle of the mundane.

Meeting the new runners

In 2023, a new organizing team stepped in. Three ladies who had volunteered at previous festivals took the lead and brought fresh energy and ambition to the event. That year, the Picnic officially got its name: Letucień.

We danced to RSP, Iva Sativa, and AnaMova, tasted new treats at the food court, and for the first time, wrapped it all up with an afterparty, open to organizers, volunteers, and guests alike.

5,000 Guests vs. 5,000 Draniks

Last year, the Picnic grew even more, welcoming guests from around the world: from Belarus to cities across Poland, Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. By our modest count, we were over 5,000 people. Local friends from Poland and Ukraine joined us too, because this celebration is for everyone.

We listened to our already sophomores, RSP, and fresh blood like Leibonik, gorged on draniki and pancakes, got refreshing tea and lemonade, and joined up talks with IT Boroda and Zoya Pryshyvalka. There was a new ethno zone, a handmade market, alongside with sporty games on the field, lots of dancing to DJs, on-site and online art to admire, and so much more to explore over the day.

United despite

A big park with lush trees, the sound of laughter, familiar faces you haven’t seen in ages, your favorite music floating from the stage, the smell of coffee and fresh draniki — and that endless summer feeling: that’s our shared dream for Letucień 2025.

We’ve invited RSP for the third time in a row, teamed up with Domsun, Kriwi, Zui, and Nemiga on the main stage, Papa Bo Selektah and Mustelide at the DJ zone. Our favourite food-dealers Krapacheese and Naleśniki Razem will serve snacks, and the Tea Mail will brew something warm. On top of that, set up for a crafts market, an ethno zone, an educational zone, an art space, sport, and even a quiet space for mental wellness.

We’re organising the event at our own expense and donation, so you can always buy a symbolic ticket and come spend a summer day with us.
